Yes and yes. You are right on the button on that last one. Of course there are some scenarios where interest rates rise to defend the dollar and to bring foreign money in and that can be good for gold too.

Just go gold!!

The Fed is reflating as we speak.
The Fed has a very hard job to do. They have to keep printing money, and have Joe6pack convinced that inflation is low, and have the economists worried about deflation, and make sure that interest rates are low, and make sure that real estate market doesn't collapse, and make sure that gold price doesn't sound the alarm bells.

I believe that eventually gold will go higher, because Asians will push it higher. Most Americans have little, except home equity and gold cannot be bought on credit.

Bottom line: gold will go higher but most Americans will not be able to afford it.
