<<are the beaches better in that area>>
I use a few values to classify beaches ie: quality of the sand, clarity of the water, temp's and babe watching.<G>

I like the course sand, not the fine hard-pack like in Daytona or the fine crushed coral in the Keys that makes a cloud in the water every step you take.

The clarity of the water is good (depending on the weather, currents & tide near inlets) to the north around Stuart. After that the Gulfstream starts to head out to sea which is also why the water is warmer there than Daytona.

The babes...jeez, I don't know anymore since its been awhile since I've been there. Maybe Jim can chirp in here.<G>

OT: there is nothing special about the lighthouse at jupiter other than it is painted red, and it was built by mcclellan (civil war general) when he was a lower rank in the us army. also the sand in hobe sound is a sort of gray color. i lived in florida for three years on the ocean, and i don't see what all the excitement about florida is.
