What discourages me about the Roberts nomination is that the chimp makes no effort at bipartisanship at all. He doesn't even throw a bone in the direction of the Democrats. Ever! He has used the attacks on the Twin Towers to whip a paranoid frenzy among the population that for some reason, to him, makes total and complete right wing behavior mandatory. I don't see the reason or connection at all.

Why the common man supports him is baffling. They think he's affable, supports their religious principles, and makes them safer. What fools would buy that line?

I could only imagine a Democratic president having the audacity to openly confer with ACLU about Supreme Court nominations, to eliminate taxes completely for anyone making under, say, $30,000 a year, and forcing doctors to perform abortions. The Republicans would ask to be thrown a bone.

SP,

Roberts is going to start drawing all the fire away from Rove and the false pretense for the war in Iraq. Strategically, I hope the demos can handle a two front war and not walk into this ambush and not turn all their guns on Roberts.
