I think we will be in the same place more or less next July.

It is obvious that you think this. The only answer to this is, "TWT."

Come on, Mike, get a grip. This just isn't so:

Terrorists are there because we are there. If we are gone, the foreigners have nothing to fight for. Iraq will not be ruled by foreigners.

Terrorists have always been in Iraq. Hussein terrorized the whole country to maintain tyranny. His dregs, and islamist terrorists are trying to do the same now in order to reinstate tyranny. Their greatest fear is democracy which is the only successful cure for tyranny.

They've said so. Democracy is the red flag and the wackos will come from everywhere to attack it everywhere. The attacks in Iraq are intense because Iraq sits close to the roots of tyranny and looks far more vulnerable than the West where attacks are only sporadic.

BTW, Iraq has often been "ruled by foreigners" and this the aim of wahabbist and khomeniist terrorists.

Without the focal point of the American occupation perhaps the iraqis will have a better shot at rising to the occasion. Terrorists are there because we are there

And if we bug out, they'll turn their attention to the "apostate" traitor Iraqi government. They're there because they seek to thwart the establishment of a democratic Iraqi state, and spread their own ideology of destruction.
