I am sure that what makes women feel extremely happy in this context is to see the Condis, Fionas and others really making it to the top based on their own skills and nothing but that!

Anything else has a slightly sour taste to it, "not the real thing", you know.

Perhaps Bush was told Renquist would retire first and had a man ready. O'Conner unexpectedly retired. When Renquist retires he'll likely have a woman ready.
