I'm pretty sure a *lot* more feverish brainpower was exercised in analyzing both the pros and cons in the search that has unearthed Roberts than was ever expended deciding if it was safe to wade into Iraq.

That may be the wink and a nod from Bush to his radical right freakshow supporters, a really radical Rehnquist replacement. Having gotten wind of the confusion regarding Roberts and the gleeful radical right, they are now spinning their gleefulness as having suspicion that he may be (horrors) Souter.
