Kerry served two tours of duty and volunteered for combat. He was wounded three times, earned a Silver and Bronze star and was heralded by his CO's as a stellar combat leader. 95% of those who actually fought with him agree. The others are rightwing extremists who hate all progressive democrats. What the rightwing fears is that their myth of being the "military party" is kind of a joke. yes they spend more on big defense contracts, but not a single major rightwing leader has ever served in combat and their gung-ho presidential ticket includes two draft-dodgers, one of whom went AWOl and lied about it.
