>> He can religiously use condoms at every relevant occasion. That would be much easier, imho.

I have first hand knowledge of two cases (and heard of more) where the woman got herself pregnant on purpose to force the man (who was leaving her) to stay with her (in both cases it worked and in neither case it led to a very happy home...interestingly enough both men pay a lot more attention to the kids than their wives). Let's face it, if the woman wants to seduce the man and push for it, many times she will manipulate the circumstances and succeed (sadly most men are not very smart in this department). Besides, she too can insist on him using a condom. I'd say it is a joint responsibility.

Fair enough. But if that is your perspective, why should the man be responsible for the consequences of what the woman chose to do with her body? Taking a couple of RU-486 seems nothing compared to all the pain and long term issues you talked about.

>> The point I was trying to draw your attention to was that most societies recognize that a woman who wants an abortion will get one, whether in a sanitary hospital with a real doctor operating on her, or if that is illegal, in a back alley or in her own toilet.

I know. I saw a documentary on Africa. One of the tribes they showed during hard times that it could not afford children, pregnant women would jump off a tree to induce abortion. The aborted fetus was later buried and a small tree was planted on it...when there is a will, there is always a way. The question is the balance between the two.
