One other caveat. Terrorism can be seen in the eye of the beholder. I don't see how Israeli tanks and bulldozers destroying hundreds of homes in Palestinean refugee camps isn't an act of terror, but it's not in Western eyes. You can damn well be sure it's an act of terrorism in the Muslim world.

I can't agree with you on the tit for tat scenario. It won't stop there. In my opinion we need leaders (not just here, but in many nations) that understand global cooperation, partnerships, commerce, etc. We are more alike than we are different and sure we can blow the hell out of them - but what have we got then?
