I expect the anti-Israeli groups to lose some of their appeal once Palestine is an independent state.

Maybe some of their appeal, but than a lot of those groups, and their supports want all of Israel/Palestine, and see a Palestinian state in part of the area as a stepping stone to get the whole thing. I think that isn't a majority view among Palestinians as a whole. Well let me be more specific, I don't think the majority of Palestinians have a great willingness to kill and die on a scale equal to or greater then the current conflict in order to get more land once a Palestinian state is created, or in order to get all the land. OTOH an insurgency or terrorist campaign can keep going without majority support. Hopefully a Palestinian state would help cause the more radical anti-Israeli groups to be marginilized. I think eventually it will. But it isn't certain.

They aren't deterred by a huge US force or tempted into the budding political process.

They are deterred from making a large scale attack to try an sieze power. They aren't deterred enough to keep them from being a problem. Some of them have been tempted in to the budding political process, but many of them have not.
