It was commercially driven with companies...Relatively few private citizens were sucked up into the bubble

tell that to the people who paid 500K in 1988 for apartments currently selling for 160K. actually Tokyo residential RE has gotten so ridiculously low i am considering buying a pied-a-terre there. just not sure i want to endure the hassle of owning properties on opposite sides of the world, though...
