CHINA gave way to mounting political, diplomatic and economic pressures yesterday by scrapping its decade-old currency peg to the dollar, revaluing the yuan and paving the way for further rises in its exchange rate.

Among other things, this means inflation is about to take off.

I am glad that much of my nest egg is in euros.

Naw, don't worry about the neighbors, the closest is about 1/2 mile away, and I have a 4 wheel drive John Deere complete with bucket for emergencies.

When cutting the lawn, I have a 22HP JD garden tractor with posi-trac, good for everything but emergencies. Sometimes the wife has to push. Great fertilizer though, 3 foot diameter green spots in a sea of yellow dead grass.

We also have a little black pug, but she has learned to Rove around the Karl's. :-)
