"so if GM goes bankrupt you expect widespread deflation. sounds like you're grasping at straws"

So what else is new<g>. Ask him how come we never had deflation after our whole financial system was on the verge of collapse and commercial RE prices plunged an average of 70% in the early 1990's? Bottom line is we can absorb future writedowns totaling $3 trillion to perhaps $5 trillion when you total them up over say a five year period and survive just fine.

If GM goes bankrupt you're gonna have a whole bunch of shareholders mad as hell and looking to point the finger at someone.
