Pulling the redistricting proposal from the ballot appears to be the technically (legally) correct decision... since a lot of the signatures they gathered were for a *differently worded* ballot proposal, but it's still unfortunate.

IMO, that was one of the most useful and positive changes the 'governator' was trying to push through.

Gerrymandering has HORRIBLE effects on Democracy.

Hopefully, the proposal will requalify for a 2006 ballot.

Schwarzenegger Considers Cancelling Election
"In the wake of a devastating ruling by a Sacramento judge stripping the Nov. 8 ballot of his initiative to overhaul redistricting," California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's (R) political team "discussed a range of options including ways to cancel the special election," the Sacramento Bee reports.

Meanwhile, the San Jose Mercury News notes "many are beginning to wonder whether Schwarzenegger is suffering from many of the same ills that brought down Gray Davis."
