"That's crazy!!!!

Or is it???"

No Z, it isn't. The problem right now is that a lot of the old farts were around when we dreamed large. We don't do that any more. The sad part is that the technology we have can do a lot more than when we dreamed. If we, as a country, decided to realize some of those dreams, we could do it. Want to end our dependence on oil? Want to explore the solar system or send probes to other stars? Want to make a world where everyone has their basic needs met? A lot of that could be done now, but it would take some pain for a decade or so. Not a lot, but enough so that a dedication would be required. But we won't because our focus is on payoff on a quarterly basis. Gone are the days when Kennedy committed us to put a man on the moon within a decade. And we took it seriously. Or, for that matter, when Ike decided to lace this country with Interstates. If we had that "vision thing" of the pre-stagflation era, we could shake history. Instead we look at maximizing profits over the short term...
