I got it. Those explosions "carried out on unexploded devices" were later reported to have been done at the home of the first terrorist identified, where they found bombs and explosives - quite unstable stuff as a matter of fact - stashed. That was taken care of "in a controlled explosion". No unexploded devices were ever reported to have been found in on the tube or in the bus on 7/7. Explicitly it was also reported that no timers or traces of such were ever found. Taro
