personally, I think AMTRAK does a lousy job of passenger service. I took a train trip once, the trip itself I loved. You get to see scenery not available from highways. BUT, you are a CAPTIVE audience and they stick it to you on food and all. I think a well run passenger train system would be possible if they could just realize the CUSTOMER is the PASSENGER and should be treated fairly. jdn

People use all of the transportation modes... and they are all subsidized (have been for decades).

Why not EQUALIZE the tax dollar subsidies per traveler... or else END THEM COMPLETELY, and let the free market decide? Why not privatize the FAA like Reagan wanted to? Why tax the general public for it?
