Toward the end of the article, they mentioned that the Air Force was working on the ability to control (supress, I guess they meant to say) crowds from the air, with a microwave weapon....

it isn't a new idea. I recall the use of a new ground radar unit in 1969. It used an incredible amount of juice to operate and it set off flash bulbs in the pockets of nearby newspaper photographers. Those of us present thought it was hilarious. Others naturally saw the applications useful for more than the techies humor. Microwave can be very useful but demands great power supplies for anything effective.

Microwave as a weapon rather than weapon support is not a new idea and has been kicked around by several nations since WWII
