This week's New Yorker has an interesting story by William Finnegan on the New York Police Department and the intense make over Kelly has done to increase it's antiterrorism capabilities. Fascinating story which argues that the NYPD is now state of the art, innovative, and the standard by which others are measured.

Unfortunately, the essay is not online. But it's worth a trip to your local library or Barnes and Nobles to read in a comfortable chair.

LB, if the NYC subway police fail to profile, the whole process is simply a stupid waste of time and taxpayer money.

And if they do, they will be crucified for it by every ethnic minority in sight, as well as the MSM.

To me, that sounds like a lose-lose situation.
