The most educated people in our society, medical doctors ...

Apparently, you don't even understand the concept of education.

Tom.

"I doubt that education, as a standalone variable, has much to do with political affiliation. The most educated people in our society, medical doctors, are overwhelmingly conservative.

General education as a formal process is simply a process of indoctrination toward a particular choice of socializing members. Advanced education to become a medical doctor is to train a particular service for society and reward the person so committed. It is not surprising that a person so committed and so rewarded would not be highly motivated to support the status quo of the system.

A person equally educated in something like sociology or journalism, performing research off shore, might be less conservative.

I don't think level of education is as much of a determining factor as the focus of education.
