Bush-Enron were almost the same thing in 1999-2001. I'm sure you'd rather forget that Enron let Karl Rove run ops out of their HQ building, gave them free private jets and even paid Christian right mobilizer Ralph Reed 150 K for the campaign, calling him an "energy consultant". Before Enron fell, Ken Lay (who had been feeding GW Bush cash for ten years) was Bush's first choice as energy secretary or maybe even treasury secretary.

The Enron case has been moving slowly since then. Lay and Skilling, who wre Bush's best buds, have not been sentenced. fastow's 1 year in prison is a shockingly light sentence. These people ripped off 20 billion from the west coast alone, and are responsible for a much bigger scam totally 80 billion in phony market cap at one point. Their top PR lobbyist was Ed Gillespie who Bush then promoted to head the RNC. Gillespie ought to be in jail too for being an accomplice.
