Bush's war has made the recruiting of terrorists much easier in the Islamic world. A non-partisan expert (cant remember his name) you may have heard is doing the talkshows stating that it is America's occupation of Arab lands which is creating the new wave of suicide bombers.

Therefore, just as Osama's big gripe was the US troops in Saudi Arabia (their holy land) now that Bush is in Iraq (indefinitely) it's having the same effect. It's also making a truth-teller out of Osama. Osama has been saying for many years that the US wants to occupy the Arab oil-producing nations.

So it seems that we must quit Iraq. But not to make things less safe, but more safe. Of course we must secure certain parts of Iraq and prop up the government, but we must do so without being the occupiers. Unfortunately Bush's puzzling failure to train Iraqi troops is holding us back. Rumsfield has lied many times about how many Iraqi troops there are. I've heard very few who can do the job. This all goes back to piss poor prep before the invasion.

New York Police Introduce Random Searches on Subways

New York City isn't standing still in the wake of the two recent bombings on London's Underground. The NYPD introduced a new policy of random searches of bags and packages on New York's subway, buses and commuter rail lines.

City officials say the plan was being worked on for several weeks but the recent terrorist attacks on London speeded up the implementation of the new policy.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg explained that the searches are a necessary evil. 'Are [the searches] intrusive?' Bloomberg asked rhetorically. 'Yes, a little bit. But we live in a world where, sadly, these kinds of security measures are necessary.'

Most New Yorkers accepted the searches although some objected to the inconvenience. The New York chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union immediately voiced its objection to the new policy.

'Random searches of people without the suspicion of wrongdoing are contrary to our most basic constitutional values,' explained Christopher Dunn, associate legal director of the New York Civil Liberties Union. 'This is a very troubling announcement.'

I have a simple question, we hear that certain evangelical preachers are arrested for doing hookers in a car in an ally. Does that make Christianity a crime? Get real.
