tejek, re:Plus the liberal/neocon split has gotten deeper.......leading to even more flaming I'm not sure the divide is any deeper than before - we still have two sides to everything - but the dialog (if you can all it that) has sure gotten nastier. It reminds me of watching the Israelis and Palestinians talk - they so distrust each other they never go anywhere - they just start rattling off wrongs against them by the other side. We've had one President after another try to be an honest broker - Clinton seemed to be so close to getting the job done at one point - and then it just fell apart. - late addition, you're right deeper is the right word, I was thinking wider. Perhaps it's due to the special interests dedicated to promoting a position day in day out. It used to be more about what the people wanted.
