It wasn't that long ago that Republicans had a plank to shut down the education dept.
Yup.

and not much longer ago that they rallied behind states' rights.
Before that it was a Dem cause, back in the days of the Solid South. They used it as part of their excuse to block civil rights legislation.

There must be a fascinating story behind resurrecting a three year old post, either that or madness.
Amazing what Advanced Search can turn up sometimes.
