I have no problem with a 50% rise in the yuan -- that sounds about right, but it will be over a period of 5 years or more. Year by year, drip by drip, dollars are going to sink to the level accorded any currency of any country that runs enormous, persistent current account and government deficits while failing to have any savings at all. By the way, the Chinese will have to cooperate with us to prevent that 50% move from happening too quickly.
