That's an interesting point, the idea of a civil war within Islam. I hadn't thought of it exactly that way. I do think that even though the Islamist Muslims will find many excuses for their terrorism, the actions the U.S. takes--like invading Iraq and killing thousands (at least) of civilians, and supporting Israel--serve the west badly because they polarize MODERATE Muslims against us and stop them from bringing some sort of reason and balance to the situation.
