Saw a similar story. Didn't realize they were going to rent it out. My comment to the other post was that the growers must love it, cuz their prices will go back up.

Canada announces 'net-zero energy' home initiative
July 22, 2005

Joe Fontana, Canada's Minister of Housing and Labor, announced the federal government's new 'net-zero energy' home initiative. The program is a joint project between the federal government and the Net-Zero Energy Home Coalition that will initially see the construction of 14 demonstration homes across Canada, and presumably lead to a broad based deployment of Net-Zero Energy Homes in Canada. Today, each Canadian home is responsible for producing an estimated five to seven tons of greenhouse gases annually and by converting to renewable energy sources such as solar, these harmful outputs can be minimized or eliminated. Net-zero energy homes are expected to become an important component of provincial and national energy strategies.
