I cannot imagine that is so, from what I have seen on SI. I think things have become so impolite on SI we need to remind each other that we ARE thinking good thoughts about each other. I'd love to hear you say that to me. Go ahead. Do it! Then when we can all believe that all here are valuable human beings, and deserving of respect and care (even if we don't agree with what they say), we can just assume it. But right now? I don't think so. So I certainly won't think it's in anyway like your ACLU situation. Please, think good thoughts about me all you want- and tell me you are. I don't think it's condescending at all. Many acts of kindness can be seen as condescending by people who do not believe in the goodwill of the other side. We'll just have to disagree on this if you really think telling someone you see their good points, and wish them the best, is somehow condescending. I think you are wrong about what chafes a certain segment of the SI population. But of course, we can disagree, and I wish you the best, regardless. (But remember, you aren't praying to "change" me- you're praying that I will be happy and healthy and have a good life (if you're trying for some sort of equivalency with me). Because those are the kinds of thoughts I think for people- and they don't have a thing to do with changing people. Perhaps you thought I meant that I think good thoughts to change people? If so you completely misunderstood me. Which is par for the course on SI.) Have a nice weekend. We're on our way out for a day trip.
