Excellent points. In Thailand the cops look more like army soldiers than the army. They even wear a paratroopers medal over their badge. Sounds like fun going to paratrooper school but I'm not sure why policeman need that. You take big risks going to many countries in the world for all kinds of reasons. I've always thought the main objective of police was to suppress and restrain suspects to bring them to justice in court. But, after the LAPD fired 300 rounds at a 19-month old baby I think things have changed.
