If Palast is right and BigOil is now running the WH, the Pentagon, the State Dept, foreign policy and the war in Iraq, would they want the insurgency/terrorism/chaos in Iraq to end any time soon?

Would they want another big player with huge reserves pumping tons of oil and lowering the prices? Why wouldn't BigOil want to keep the uncertainty going, the supply limited and the prices rocking towards $80/bbl?

At some point, it would hurt the industrialized economies but why shouldn't they reap as much profit as possible until then?
