Regrettably, I think the Bush administration's method of "resolving" conflicts will be a model for future governments, no matter which side of the aisle they come from. I doubt that this is anything new. The extreme right has always existed (Le Pen in France is an example I know first hand), and the cynical way the mainstream Socialist and Right wing parties in France have played the lunatic fringe off on each other is more than clear. Russia is the same old creeps in power, with new names is all. And it goes on all over the world really. Bush, like all to many characters who rise to power is a borderline mental case, as psychological analysis have shown ("Bush on the Couch" is one book I have seen, though it's not really excellent), and I'm rather astonished that the Democrats didn't line up a really crack team of expert psychologists on his case, it's a Freudian field day. In one Muslim state after another, we have a sick mixture of religious fundamentalism and government, mixed with a pathetic case of insecurity (a mere handful of Jews on one corner of land, which Jews lived on before Islam ever existed drives them crazy), and here in the US what do we have as the overreaching issue ? The Cause, The Cause, The Cause, The Cause : overthrow Roe vs Wade at all costs. Nothing is more important than that. Not the safety and prosperity of mainstream Americans. Not the economy, Social Security, the lies that stuck us on that Iraq tarbaby. No, it's Roe vs Wade !!!!! But none of this is anything new ! This century it's Islam instead of Communism, and an impending oil crisis and dollar collapse on top of it. Bush just got an undeserved free pass with 9/11 is what it amounts to.
