Interesting ads in today's newspaper "magazines" where Dell always advertises.

Comparing notebook ads from HP in the same "magazine", a few pages apart, with Dell's:
Item Dell HP
Price $499 $499
CPU (Celeron M in both) 1.3ghz 1.4ghz
Screen size 14" 15"
Disk 30gb 40gb
CD RW ROM
DVD ROM ROM
RAM 256 256
It's $100 more upgrade the Dell to 15" and 40GB drive. The CDRW / DVD combo is a $50 option from HP (but they should have included it in the base config).

I think HP has "woken up" since Carly left and is becoming a more aggressive competitor. Dell also has the problem in that, even though everyone's consumer service is awful (HP, Dell, etc.), "Dell Hell" is becoming a generic term for being left on hold, not called back, etc. by a computer maker because it's a rhyme.
