how about some practical training?

PM me anytime. I think Kholt is the expert at this. Although we all tend to know what we use, and not bother if it isn't a big deal with us. For instance, I had never known about the print size option in Firefox until she just posted it.

I always keep a "bookmarks" column open on the left side of my screen for lesser used bookmarks. And group some of them in folders.

If you edit the name of your bookmark when you enter it in the top toolbar, you can get about 30 of them to show. I find that most sites have a graphic that is automatically added. When it is, I just edit the name down to it. For instance, the NYT is a small black symbol of their initials overlaid.

You are right. I use it as a place to store the bookmarks I use for newsgathering. Between it and bloglines, where I subscribe to an average of about 170 sites, it keeps me going.

One of my main sources of minor or unusual news is comments in blogs that link to them. I find they also help me catch major stories that I have missed in say, the NYT or the WSJ. When you see me post of an article from a newsource you have never heard of, it is usually from a blog link.
