My absolutely favorite feature of Firefox is the search engine window on the navigation toolbar. I've added Wikipedia, Abebooks, IMDB, and others to the standards.

On using Firefox, I've used the tabs feature the way you do but found it just as easy to use the bookmark toolbar. And generally I wanted a reloaded page, for instance, Bloglines to be brought up to date, anyway.

I like Karen's use for pasting articles from sources into SI. I usually use the two windows approach so I don't shut down my SI connection and lose the thread count. I had forgotten, as I posted to her, the tabs feature in Firefox because I only used it as you apparently do.

I've been using some of the extensions but have been too busy to explore features very much. I'm going to have to spend more time with Firefox.

Thanks.

I use tabs to go back and forth between various windows without having to have them at the BOTTOM.

You can drag the bar that has the start menu and the little tabs for open windows - don't know what that's called - to the top of the screen. Just click on it and drag it. Can also drag to the side. Might only work in XP Pro, I dunno.

I have an extra grey bar I can't figure out how to get rid of.

At this minute, I've got a blue bar for this open window that also has the minimize, maximize and close buttons.

Below that, the bar that says File Edit View Go, etc.

Below that, the bar that has the green arrows and the URL - I think that's the Navigation bar.

And then a grey bar with nothing on it.

And then the window.
