Most were Unitarians or Deists. Considering both deny the divinity of Christ, it is hard to call them Christian.

Our constitution didn't demand a banning of God from government.

You and the religious right are ignoring the reality. There was considerable discussion among the FF about separating church and state; most FF did not want have the US to develop on the British model. While some were opposed to the separation, the majority decided to move in that direction. That direction continues to evolve. This business of freedom of religion vs freedom from religion is something, Ten or you all are making up. Its aways been separation of church and state.
