That is outrageous! Thanks for posting it. She is an embarrassment to my home state.

Actually Governors and Lt. Governors are responsible for sending Guardesmen in their states to war, so when one dies, they should have an obligation to attend funerals and show that they care. Obviously whomever wrote that article you posted has got a severe case of partisanitis.

The problem with Bushies is that they pretend these thousands of casualties of ours in Iraq don't exist. They treat death in battle like something embarrassing not to be acknowledged or noticed. It's bad PR, they think. Doesn't fit into Rove's "ra ra, go GW!" bs. Besides, no rightwinger leaders ever served in combat so this makes them uncomfortable too.

When was the last time you saw any top Bushie at a military funeral or even sending his/her condolances? Almost never. Which is an insult to those they sent off to die. In fact they've made photographing military caskets illegal. Meanwhile, leaders like John Kerry attend military funerals whenever they can.

A while ago I attended the funeral of a fallen marine guardsman. His funeral was standing room only in a large church. His family was honored to have many politicians attend the event. They were there to show there respect and be seen doing so. The entire sanctuary was ringed with marines, air force, and army personnel.

The politicians who were noticed there were not against the liberation of Iraq. They supported the troops and their mission to secure our freedom.
