the males also keep the egg and eventually the baby penquins themselves (they hatch while the mothers are gone feedng) on their feet under their feathers just like the mothers do as well....

in fact the male parent suffers the worst part of the winter while the females go back to the ocean to feed, then they return, allowing the males to do the same....many of the males don't last out the storms, they do not eat for over 3 months and they lose approximately half of their body weight during this time

extremely dedicated parents!
