Taro > I see Israel pulling out of Gaza but never leaving the West Bank again

I agree. In fact, Sharon has said as much. Further, his idea of giving land in the Negev in exchange for West Bank land reinforces the idea of permanence. Further, there is no intention to return East Jerusalem or the Golan or even the bit of Lebanon which Israel took. And I'm not even talking about the right to return to land/properties in Israel itself which is a bone of contention amongst many Palestinians.

Frankly, I cannot see Sharon's "solution" being acceptable to the Palestinians or any independent authority but, as you say, that's it -- take it or leave it. Meanwhile, he will have a hard time getting his plan to stick with the fundamentalist Israelis, most of whom are totally opposed to the giving up of any land which they say is theirs by a God-given right. In fact, they want it all, even that which the Palestinians now occupy.
