Smarter people than me have refuted peak oil quite effectively.

no, smarter people than you have refuted peak oil quite poorly. just because someone is smarter than you and you believe everything they say does not make what they say correct. there are some creationists out there with very high IQs. this does not make their ridiculous arguments correct.

based on your earlier remarks, it appears that you are not very interested in learning about the subject of peak oil. thus, it is not worthwhile debating it, anymore than it is worthwhile to try to debate evolution with somebody who thinks god made the world 6000 years ago.

The problem with "peak oil" is that it makes an engineering analysis and when you are trying to measure resources you have to make an economic analysis

this is a well-known, ludicrous argument originating from flat-earth economists who think everything is reducible to price. but before economics become an issue, one must consider the net energy returned on energy invested. a barrel of oil can be worth a billion dollars, but if it takes two barrels of oil equivalent to get it into your car tank it might as well not exist. physical reality trumps economics every time.

Peak oil is fundamentally flawed because of this.

no, your own pseudo-analysis is fundamentally flawed as i demonstrated above. my last post on this subject unless you demonstrate an actual understanding of the subject matter.

It's real, and we are close. One guy says Thanksgiving, this year. Most experts agree we are real close.
In '71, the industry laughed at Hubbert; "You said we would peak in '71, and we have never pumped this much, fool". Guess what? '71 was the US peak, and it was all down hill from then. Now the world is just about there.

You should watch a video called "The End of Suburbia". Best place to get an introduction to the whole concept.
