In retrospect I'm not even sure we should have invaded Afghanistan. OBL is from Saudi Arabia. His financial support came and still comes from Saudi Arabia. Bush would have never invaded them as they own him. Of course the Taliban were and still are terrible people, as are and were the Bathists. How many of the 9-11 suicide bombers were from Afghanistan? Does OBL live in Afghanistan or Pakistan? So many questions that I did not have when I was so pleasured to see our bombs fall on Afghanistan. And, if we all admit it, we were rather pleased to watch the bombs fall in Baghdad those days before we learned the truth. Don't be guckin' hypocrites now. Think back.

At the time I argued for killing a very large number of the people of Afghanistan more or less at random, I was way beyond being in agreement with the Afghanistan initiative. I would have been in favor of killing every man, woman, child and insect in Afghanistan. The weeks after 9/11 were insane, a doctor friend of mine told me he had to refer a few people to the loony bin for a while because they couldn't stop obsessing about it. The reason I am so ticked off at the Bush regime is that they took that anguish, that pain, that thirst for vengeance and turned it to suit an entirely different agenda. And they did it in a very cold and calculating manner. Those of us who are grown ups can admit we were wrong ... but the last election makes me wonder how many of us are grown ups.
