With all due respect, that is the most negative view on humanity I have ever heard. Of course I do not know any "perfect" people, but I do believe perfection is achievable, otherwise why bother to try? There are reports of some people who seem to have been nearly perfect...but even if not, past performance does is not a predictor of future returns :)

I would say Christianity today is hell of a lot more tolerant than it used to be. I don't want you to give the impression that I hate Christianity or that I think it is an evil religion and so on. A lot of good is also done by some Christians. The truth of the matter is that, imo, there are many types of Christianity, and I don't mean the well recognized sects. To me a religion is defined as whatever its followers say it is (and act on) accordingly. I care little for theoretical arguments that say "true Islam is this" or "real Christianity is that"...but then to be fair, I acknowledge that there may be several different religions all with the same name. From this perspective it really matters little if the text has stayed the same or not. What matters is if most who read it and/or say they believe in it act as decent human beings or not. After all, of what value is a religion if it cannot change its followers for the better?
