China could devastate our currency and perhaps cause a run on greenbacks.

My problem with this argument is that China would be terribly hurt also. I don't see them cutting off their own noses this way, in an attempt to bring down us, them, and the world's economy.

The Chinese aren't holding greenbacks, they're holding US bonds. What happens when you dump bonds?
