Mr. Roberts has said that he doesn't recall belonging to the lawyers' outfit.

I think he believes that he never joined, although he did participate in some of their events. The "doesn't recall" is just smart politics on his part, in case someone turns up a receipt for dues that he doesn't remember.

It's a tad disturbing that he can't remember.

He could just call them up and ask them -- it's a local call, the main office is in DC.
