Interesting question - did any of the US Christian churches ever rise up against the KKK and the killing that was done supposedly to preserve a pure white Christian nation? Should we have expected them to when their formal religious authorities weren't directly sanctioning the racial violence, but the perpetrators were mostly in their Sunday morning congregations throughout the South?

I don't see any evidence that the Christan church has been a violent organization for the last couple of centuries despite the violence and havoc wreaked in its name from time to time. For the same reason, I would not condemn the entire Islamic faith because one group has run amok with ideas that most Islamic scholars don't support in practice.

The hate-talk jocks pull this stuff to get ratings. They would scream about Michael Jackson's jockstrap instead if they thought it would provoke a stronger emotional reaction in their listeners.

I only listen to the hate-talk radio long enough to change the station. I like to play the game of counting the seconds until they tell me who I am supposed to hate at that given moment; the highest I ever got was 30 seconds, but only because the show's producer had trouble cueing a tape from a public official that the host wanted to piss on that evening.

You aren't missing anything.

What about all the Imams who really have been denouncing terror? There have been quite a few. I would think they counted for something. It's not like Islam as a pope or anything.
