That's a bit harsh. The fact is, is that the B-52 is very useful as a "bomb truck." You want penetration, use the B-1 or B-2. You wanna "Arc Light" the Taliban, the B-52 is just the ticket. The real problem with building more B-52's is that the production lines are down and all the equipment sold off for probably a good 30+ years or so. As an interesting side note, a military analyst I know made a real interesting comment. Knowing how the B-52 would actually be used, we would have been better off buying the jet version of the B-36 and more of them.
