Whether he is or isn't, that would be totally irrelevant to any crime involved in exposing the classified identity of his wife.

Well... if you believe that some laws are silly, and thus, shouldn't be enforced, I guess you could make a case for that.

Personally, I'd argue that if laws are bad or pointless then they should be REPEALED... but that's just me.

(Interesting that there was recently a US case where a fellow was sentenced to 25 years confinement, I believe, for leaking *classified* information. Of course, in that instance, the government was *going after him*....)

I'd argue though that, if laws aren't uniformly applied then the public loses respect for the law (& they *should* in that circumstance...) and that is generally a *bad* thing in any society.
