Paul Krugmans larger problem is that he is neither a good columnist nor a good economist. He is motivated strictly by ideology. By the way, i think Kristof and Brooks are doing well at forging centrist positions over at the NYT. Brooks gets the cons angry some times and Kristoff does the same for the libs but they are both interesting reads. I wonder if you find them that way. I think the reason is that neither are ideologues like krugman. Mike

Krugman loves the fact that Canada pays for Toyota employee health insurance

he was interviewed by maria on sunday financial show. Krugman mentioned $4/5 labor overhead in U.S. vs Canada because of health insurance and that was primary reason for move to Canada.

I know that xon closed down a local office here and moved to canada and the difference in salaries gives them a 2.5 clerk for each one paid here. There must be some big time advantages , besides benefits. I assume wages are far lower in maritime provinces and perhaps industrial taxes.

Krugman didn't mention that at least 52% !!! of a Canadian's income goes to Federal Taxes....and that doesn't count all the other taxes that have to be paid....

And I'm sure he didn't interview many Canadians that use the medical system in Canada.... Its great evidently, if one has a cold, or needs shots, etc...but on something big and serious, many of the Canadians come here to the States to have the procedures...Otherwise they might die, or be in pain for years, waiting for their number to come to the top of the list for treatment.
