10:02AM Bear Stearns cuts Electronic Arts to underperform (ERTS) by Scott Banerjee
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Bear Stearns analyst R. Glen Reid on Tuesday downgraded shares of video game publisher Electronic Arts Inc. (ERTS) to underperform from peer perform. In a note to clients, Reid wrote that EA faces fundamental headwinds as it enters a hardware transition cycle, as well as company-specific challenges such as increased licensing costs and stiffer competition among competitors. Bear Stearns also lowered its fiscal 2007 earnings per share estimate to $1.72 from $1.84 and its year-end price target to $50 from $52. Shares of EA were down 2.4% to $60.42 in mid-morning trades.
