We had no intenational enemy in vietnam except for the communists whose threat we exaggerated. In Iraq, it is true that historians may determine that there was no strong link to interanational terrorism--only to the terrorist who killed israelis. But even if so and the war should not have been started, we are in combat with terrorists now. Cannot avoid that reality. Today is day one. What to do from this point on should concern policy makers. The historians have a whole differnt job to do.
