On the contrary, as the President stated in Sept. 2003, if anyone broke the law, they will be bounced. There is no difference between now and then in his stance.

Q And, and, do you stand by your pledge to fire anyone found to have done so?

THE PRESIDENT: Yes. And that's up to the U.S. Attorney to find the facts.

The above is from June of 2004.

The Following is from Bush's first day of answering questions on the Plame case, Sept. 30th 2003, i.e. "if the person has violated law, the person will be taken care of." -- en.wikipedia.org

Whatever else you say he said on Sept. 30th 2003 VS what he's said this year, the above shows his initial reaction was indeed the same as his more recent statements, and was his public view and promise all along.

This whole "switch" charge leveled by Democrats, claiming essentially that Bush had said he'd fire someone without legal conviction, is plainly false (as it should be, if anyone, say Bush, cares about Justice).

jlallen speaks the truth.
